With the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for MS Exchange your BlackBerry is fully able to take full advantage of all email and related facilities. It automatically syncs your email, calendar, contacts and tasks to your desktop pc and, if you have one to a portable, via the Exchange Mail Server. If you are working with colleagues and sharing information – e.g. using the calendar functions to set up meetings then everybody is kept up to date all the time. In the past your organisation will have had to install their own BES but now our hosted BES service allows you to get the maximum out of your BlackBerry without that expense and hassle and allows the smallest organisations to get the most from their BlackBerry!
There is a much more basic service available called Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) which will deliver email to your phone but can only be synced by plugging in the handset to your computer. In general it is this basic service that the airtime providers include in their product bundles.

Blackberry Internet Service
SMS can deliver email to any Blackberry device which has a suitable data plan. There are two easy and quick ways to get email to your Blackberry with SMS.
Either way, your emails will appear on your Blackberry! This is a cost effective way to get your emails on your Blackberry since SMS does not charge you any more for the service.
Note. Since this is not a Blackberry Enterprise Service (BES), syncing your calendar/contacts will still need to be done via Blackberry Desktop manager software on your desktop/laptop pc.
Vodafone, O2, Orange, T-mobile and others offer Blackberries which will work with the above solution. All you have to do is ensure that you get a Blackberry Internet Service from them.
